For the first time ever, Phillips Wharf is releasing a series of themed activity packets and optional companion kits to help get your children get engaged in the environment this summer. Our second Summer Fun Pack is themed “It's a Crab's Life” and comes with a variety of art projects and activities. These activities are geared towards children ages 7 to 11, though older children may also enjoy them. We also want to remind parents that younger children may need more parental assistance for some of these activities while older children will likely need less.
So, what’s in the pack?
This month’s activity packet includes instructions to fold your very own origami crab, along with 10 sheets of origami paper in different colors and patterns.
There are also several construction based craft projects. The first includes instructions and images of the different life stages of the blue crab for you to color and decorate, cut out, and then create a hanging mobile with. There are also instructions on how build your own crab using a paper bowl and pipe cleaners and a build your own crab claw activity which gets your young one thinking about the form and function of this appendage.
In addition, we’ve put together a Blue Crab Activity Book that contains over 20 pages of fun! This activity book is packed with lots of kid friendly information and images on the Chesapeake Bay blue crab and activities relating to these crustaceans including a crab vocabulary word search, anatomy lesson, coloring pages and more!
We are offering two purchase options with this box; you can purchase just the activity packet for $6.50 or you can purchase the activity packet and companion box for $25.00 with all the supplies you need to complete the activities. Please note there are a limited number of companion boxes available, so order soon!
This month’s Companion Box also contains an EXTRA art project, brought to you by our friends at Kiln Born Creations in Easton, Maryland. Please note this project is ONLY available in the Companion Box.
