End of Year FUNdraising Raffle

Starting on Tuesday, November 28th at midnight, every person that makes a minimum $10 donation will receive an entry into our Year End FUNdraising Raffle. We’ve reached out to a number of local businesses to provide you with a slew of fun prizes. 

On Saturday, December 31st at 12:00 pm, we’ll draw the winning raffle tickets during our winter Open House at Phillips Wharf from 11 am to 1 pm. During the Open House, we will be open to the public so that you can come in and see our animal ambassadors and displays, plus we’ll have hot chocolate and apple cider available.

However, you do not have to be present to win!

Below is a list of our current raffle prizes and their donors. Many thanks to our local businesses and donors that are supporting this year’s raffle!

Prize #1: See the Chesapeake Bay like never before with this prize package! This prize includes a gift certificate for a 2 hour beginners stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson or a 2 hour guided paddle excursion for 2 by local Paddlefit Certified SUP Instruction & Excursion Guide, Kate Richards.

This is a fabulous opportunity for you to experience the Chesapeake Bay. If it’s your first time an a SUP, maybe you’ll fall in love with a new sport that gets you out enjoying our beautiful Bay. If you’re already an experienced paddler, the guided excursion can show you a new paddle route to explore. Either way, you’ll get out on the water and fall even more in love with the Chesapeake!

Prize #2: This prize is a $15 gift card to local favorite, Rise Up Coffee Roasters. Rise Up started as a drive through coffee kiosk in St. Michaels in 2005 and has seen tremendous growth since then. Now with coffee shops from Ocean City to Annapolis, they boast some of the best coffee around. Rise Up Coffee is organic, fair trade, and roasted right here in Easton, making it a sustainable choice for your caffeine fix.

This gift card is valid at all Rise Up locations.

Prize #3: Two bags of locally roasted coffee. As mentioned above, Rise Up Coffee Roasters specializes in fair trade, organic coffee that is roasted on site in Easton. This prize pack includes a bag of their House Roast, which is a blend of Honduras, Sumatra, and Guatemalan coffees roasted to a perfectly balanced medium. The second bag is the Organic Maryland blend, which features Honduras and Guatemalan coffee, which was created to celebrate Rise Up Coffee Roasters being voted Maryland’s Best Coffee.

Prize #4: Mother Mary’s Creations is a local, woman run business created by Mary Kramer. Mary focuses on creating nautical based resin gifts including wall art, ornaments, jewelry, and more in conjunction with the brand new Open Studio creative space located in Easton, Maryland. Mary sells at local artisans markets and also accepts custom orders.

This particular piece is a 5 x 5 inch resin window in a wooden frame, featuring a blue crab, a sea star, sea glass, shells, and other fun items. Together, these objects create a whimsical undersea scene that will remind you of the Chesapeake Bay, no matter how far away you might be.

Prize #5: This is a pair of blue crab earrings that will help you showcase your love of the Chesapeake Bay and all her critters. These are enameled in shades of blue, with a hint of orange for the claws, and you know they are true blue crabs because of the back fins. The circle hook clasp will ensure that these earrings stay on, whether your out on the town or spending the morning trotlining for crabs.

These adorable crab earrings are another beautiful creation from Mother Mary’s Creations. Is it just us or are they giving Ms. Frizzle vibes?

Prize # 6: This lovely ornament features a tiny golden crab and an aquatic plant resting atop a backdrop of oyster shell. If you’ve been looking for more Chesapeake Bay themed Christmas ornaments for your holiday decorating, this is it!

Prize #7: Local Chesapeake Bay outfitter, Brackish Life has donated two thank you packages for our donors. Brackish Life provides everything you need to be comfortable while spending time enjoying the great outdoors!

The first package includes a baseball cap and men’s long sleeve shirt. The cap is a black and white trucker hat with the classic “A little salty, a little fresh” logo and the long sleeve shirt is a UV performance shirt in a greyscale mossy oak print. This shirt features the brackish logo in Maryland flag print on the front and a blue crab on the back. These items can be exchanged in store for different sizes and colors.

Prize #8: A bottle of this year’s batch of Blackberry Rum from local distillery, Windon Distilling in St. Michaels, Maryland.

If you’ve never sipped on this rum liquor, you are definitely missing out. It perfectly captures the delicious flavor of summer blackberries. Try it with fresh squeezed lemonade for a refreshing blackberry lemonade, or replace the white rum in a mojito for a fun take on a summer classic.

The cap is a distressed teal color with a ponytail holder in the back and the classic “A little salty, a little fresh” logo on the front. The short sleeve shirt is grey with the brackish logo in Maryland flag print on the front and a blue crab on the back. These items can be exchanged in store for different sizes and colors.

Prize #10: Sprout is another local favorite with a bakery, café, and deliciously fresh pre-packaged meals ready to take or eat on site. They have locations in Easton, St. Michaels, and Annapolis and you can use this gift card at any of those locations.

Focusing on fresh, local ingredients, Sprout encourages you to think about where you food comes from and to enjoy every bite!

This gift card is our way of saying lunch or a coffee and a loaf of challah bread are on us.

Prize #11: We know Rise Up Coffee Roasters for their fabulous coffee but they also started a line of organic teas. This prize pack includes two different teas so that you can try out this wonderful company. The first tea is a classic jasmine green tea, which will be light on the caffeine, but full of antioxidants with a delicate floral taste. The second tea is African Healer, which is a caffeine free rooibos (red) tea blended with hibiscus for a tropical flavor. Each pack contains 7 sachets so you can brew directly in your drinking vessel of choice.

Prize #12: This prize is your choice of a Phillips Wharf Environmental Center t-shirt. We are currently working on a new t-shirt design featuring the one and only Larry the Diamondback Terrapin (not shown because we’re still finalizing the Larry artwork). The winner of this prize will be able to choose one of these new shirts or a vintage Phillips Wharf shirt (options shown in the photo), though we only have XL sizes left in these designs.

Prize #13: This raffle prize is a set of 4 hand printed linocut cards featuring a common Chesapeake Bay fish, the mummichog. Also known as bull minnows or just minnows, these silvery little fish can be found throughout the Bay along marshes and in grass beds.

These cards are printed with black ink on bright white 5 x 6.5 inch cards. They’re blank inside and perfect for sending someone a quick note to say you’re thinking of them.

Prize #14: This raffle prize is a set of 4 hand printed linocut cards featuring a horseshoe crab. This ancient animal has looked the same for millions of years and their blood contains a compound (LAL) used to ensure that medical equipment is sterile.

These cards are printed with gold ink on bright white 5 x 6.5 inch cards. They’re blank inside and perfect for sending someone a quick note to say you’re thinking of them.
